Relying on the experience gained through previous projects, AETS, in addition to“conventional” IT tools, specialises in Geographical Information Systems, geo-databases and real-time control and data acquisition applied to the fields of energy and the environment.
Thanks to its multi-disciplinary team of consultants and engineers, AETS is capable of providing highly specific and valuable assistance throughout the project cycle: consulting, project management, on-site support, commercial and customised training. Following a needs assessment, the technical assistance covers different fields of expertise: database modelling and mapping, large data transcription project management, workflow design, application/interface specifications and Geospatial Web Solution design, up to anticipating the future evolution of the system.

Data models, Geo-databases, cartography and related multi-thematic analysis tools for utilities

AETS provides advanced solutions and studies, relying on its worldwide expertise in GIS applications covering different fields of utility networks (Electricity, Gas, Petrol, Water...). AETS participates in the identification of relevant data models, determines customised requirements, thematic analysis approaches, data inventory and organisation, design and implementation of geo-database structure and scheme, specification of user interfaces, data collection and updates, as well as application design. AETS experts are also capable of designing data models that can simplify the integration of GIS with real-time systems.
AETS’ solutions and studies are provided in accordance with international GIS standards and developed data model standards:

Remote sensing
As remote sensing may not provide all the required information for a fully-fledged assessment, AETS provides an innovative approach to combine remote sensing derived data and GIS. AETS offers a wide range of remote sensing studies (infrastructure development, disaster monitoring and mitigation, environmental assessment and monitoring and sustainable agriculture…) in collaboration with its other departments (environment, food safety...).

Real-time systems (SCADA, DMS, EMS…)
Real-time systems are an important component of utility networks. Service companies are increasingly adopting electronic surveillance solutions to control and manage transmission and distribution networks in order to provide better services to customers.
AETS provides a high level of research and develops studies to improve the automation of distribution systems using advanced Information Technology, control and data communication systems (SCADA, DMS, EMS…) and covers different types of utility networks and different stages of controls (transmission, distribution and storage).
As the new control, surveillance and management systems have adopted GIS as a main data source, GIS applications have become the backbone of new technologies.

Telecommunication systems
In addition to conventional means of telecommunications, AETS has developed specific expertise in the domain of satellite-based communication systems which can be used in several domains from environmental monitoring through to industrial process control and operations.
AETS, in partnership with SATMOS, a new company specialised in the satellite technologies field, is now progressively setting-up an innovative and flexible end-to-end satellite service solution. The solution is reliable, affordable, permanently available and independent from terrestrial networks (RTC, GSM) which are unreliable when major events occur (major natural or industrial catastrophes).
